Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai or Singapore?

How to choose among KiNET's seven PoPs in Asia, compared by capacity, carriers, exchanges, servers and DDoS protection.

KiNET has seven PoPs in Asia. Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai are core PoPs; Taipei, Singapore and Suzhou are edge PoPs. The right one depends on where your users are and what you need from the PoP.

How do the seven PoPs compare?

When should I choose Tokyo?

Choose Tokyo for users in Japan and for the widest choice of carriers: Softbank, IIJ, Cogent, NTT, Lumen and PCCW Global.

When should I choose Hong Kong?

Choose Hong Kong where the backbone meets the edge segment to Singapore and Taipei. It has the same 100G and scrubbing ceilings as Tokyo.

When should I choose Shenzhen, Shanghai or Suzhou?

Choose these PoPs to reach users on China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile, and on CERNET in Shanghai and Suzhou. Shenzhen peers at CNIX and Shanghai at SHIXP. They sell IP Transit only, so run your servers in Hong Kong or Tokyo and take transit in the mainland PoPs.

When should I choose Taipei or Singapore?

Choose Taipei for users on networks that peer at STUIX or TPIX, and Singapore for Southeast Asia through SGIX. Put services that expect large attacks in Tokyo or Hong Kong.
